Sounding good?

I am talking about guitars. Do you wonder why sometimes when you play a chord, the other guy plays it better than you and yours sound crummy and stuff? It’s not that he’s better than you; it is because you might not tune your guitar well enough. Tuning is one of the most important things that you should learn in playing the guitar because it affects your guitar playing so much. You can’t play a decent sounding guitar if it’s detuned so you should really learn it.

The first thing that you should learn is standard tuning. How do you tune a guitar in standard tuning? First, the notes of each open string are as follows:

1st – e

2nd – B

3rd – G

4th – D

5th – A

6th – E

If you notice, there is an “e” on small caps and an “E” on big caps. The small caps signify the higher e. the first string is the thinnest string. So basically, you count from bottom to top. Now, it would really help if you have an electronic tuner. Or if you don’t have one, you could always bas the notes on the piano or use a tuning fork. Either way, your tuning must be like this.
