Now this is good news.
Legendary guitar icon Eric Clapton has recently announced that he would be releasing his 19th solo studio album, this coming September 28th, 2010. The album title? It is simply titled “Clapton”.
The album was co – produced by his longtime partner and co – guitar player as well, Doyle Bramhall II. Goof things are packed inside this album like the his band line up, an all star selection indeed, JJ Cale, Jim Keltner on drums, Willie Weeks on bass, Walt Richmond on keyboards and later on, he added guests like Steve Winwood, Wynton Marsalis, Sheryl Crow, Allen Toussaint and Derek Trucks.
The sound? It is not like anything that Clapton had made, on this album, he just went with the flow. It passes through everything from the traditional brass band modes up to the underground country blues and up to the brand new original songs. The whole album is relaxed, revelatory and it is perfectly perfect.
My thoughts: just when I thought Clapton would retire (he’s one of my influences), here he comes with a kick – ass album that would make blues fans and Clapton fans all over the world jump in joy. I can’t wait for this to come out.
